Nothing better than a hike to stroll along the beautiful mountain paths and discover the sumptuous landscapes that the mountain offers in summer. Green fields, wildflowers, emerald lakes and even sometimes friendly bovines will surprise you along the many hiking trails around the Bulles des Mines d’Or. Here are some ideas for summer walks from Lac des Mines d’Or or the surrounding area, from the easiest to the most demanding.

Col de Cou

  • Level: very easy


More of a stroll than a hike, this quick and easy walk will allow you to easily access beautiful panoramas without spending all day at it and will be perfect for an after lunch option. From the Lac des Mines d’Or, follow the forest road that leads to the farm a little higher (30 minutes walk). After crossing the cattle fences, follow the path that will take you to the pass where you will find an altitude refuge and an orientation table.

Lac de Montriond and Ardent Waterfall

  • Time: arround 2h20 mn
  • Level: easy


Enjoy a wonderfull loop walk through the hills upstream of the Lac de Montriond. Stroll along accessible paths around the lakesides then in the forest in order to reach the magnifiscent Ardent Waterfall. 

Le Col de Cou par le Vanet

  • Alt. Pointe de Léchère : 2083m
  • Time: arround 3h55 mn
  • Level: challenging


Here is a loop route for the most experienced who will discover the Valley of the Mines d’Or and its wild and preserved landscapes. This route will take you through hills and ridges to the end of the valley enjoying  breathtaking views on the way : Dents Blanches, the Dents du Midi and the plateau of Balme in the direction of Champéry on the Swiss side.
